Research Interests:
Stacey's research primarily focuses on film, genre, and ecocritical engagements with race, gender, and food studies. Her most recent publications include an article in Quarterly Review of Film & Video which explores the subgenre of grief horror cinema through the affects of sorrow and mourning, and a journal article in Horror Studies on ethnonationalism and the folkloresque in Midsommar (2019). The subject of her current research focuses on how the visual motif of maize in American horror cinema invokes hauntological histories and speculative anxieties around food and racialization, regionality, and consumption in the national consciousness.
