Description

This course will explore the clamorous, crowded, chaotic streets of London as portrayed in a series of novels. We will examine stories that celebrate the freeing anonymity of London life and contrast them with critiques of social inequities. We will discuss who has access to London's famous urban spaces and what participation in city life looked life as modernity unfolded.
